The voice of law: lessons from practical podcasting experience

In his paper Martin Belgrove (University of East London) aimed to share some of the lessons learnt from the use of podcasting in law modules. The session was unfortunately cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, but you can see Martin’s slides (embedded below).
Podcasting is fast becoming established in education, where it can produce positive benefits for students more familiar with podcasts than with the institutions at which they are studying.
The School of Law at the University of East London has been investigating the potential of podcasting in a variety of settings and functions. Martin aimed to share the practical lessons learnt thus far and to investigate a variety of different podcasting techniques and their relative effectiveness, including recorded lectures, assignment guidance and feedback, module descriptions and student guidance, as well as to examine the pedagogical implications of implementing podcasting within law modules.

Martin Belgrove is Learning Technology Advisor in the School of Law at the University of East London. He has spent the last 10 years teaching in secondary, further and higher education, while at the same time developing a keen interest in learning technology.
